Robot types
SCARA robot
A Selective Compliance Assembly Robot Arm, an arm architecture with two rotary joints on parallel vertical axes plus a vertical linear axis, typically giving 4 degrees of freedom. The geometry is rigid in the vertical direction and compliant in the horizontal plane, which suits insertion and assembly tasks. SCARAs are widely used for planar pick-and-place, screwdriving, and small-part assembly where short cycle times matter more than full 3D orientation control.
