End effector
The device mounted at the mechanical interface of a robot arm that performs the task: a gripper, vacuum cup array, welding torch, screwdriver, dispensing head, or sensor package. The end effector's mass counts against the robot's rated payload, and its geometry shifts the tool center point used in programming. Selecting and integrating the end effector is often a larger engineering effort than selecting the arm itself.
